labels.json All your labels and categories
attachments/ All images, audio recordings, and sketches organized by note

README.txt Documentation explaining the export format

How to Export

We recommend taking these steps before deleting your account:

  1. Export Your Data: Use the app's export feature to download a backup of your notes before deletion.
  2. Check All Devices: Make sure you have access to any notes stored only locally on other devices.
  3. Save Important Information: Copy any critical information to another location.
  4. Review Shared Content: If you've shared any notes, inform collaborators before deletion.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why do I need to verify my email to delete my account?

Email verification is an additional security measure to confirm you truly own the account being deleted. This protects against unauthorized deletion if someone gains access to your device. We send a 6-digit code to your registered email that expires in 10 minutes.

I didn't receive the verification code. What should I do?

Check your spam or junk folder first. The email is sent from noreply@betterkeep.app. If you still don't see it after a few minutes, try requesting a new code. Make sure the email address on your account is correct and accessible.

Can I delete specific notes instead of my entire account?

Yes! You can delete individual notes by moving them to trash and then emptying the trash. You don't need to delete your entire account to remove specific content.

Will my notes be visible to anyone during the grace period?

No. Once you request deletion, your account is signed out and your data becomes inaccessible to everyone, including you (unless you cancel the deletion by signing back in).

Can Better Keep Notes staff access my data during deletion?

No. Your notes are end-to-end encrypted. Even our staff cannot read your note contents. The deletion process is automated and does not involve human review of your data.

What happens if I create a new account with the same email after deletion?

After the 30-day period, your old data is permanently deleted. If you create a new account with the same email address, it will be a completely fresh account with no access to previous data.

How do I know my data has been deleted?

After the 30-day grace period, you will not be able to sign into your old account. If you try to sign in, you'll be prompted to create a new account, confirming the old account no longer exists.

Is there any way to expedite the deletion process?

The 30-day grace period is designed to protect you from accidental deletion. If you have urgent security concerns, please contact us at contact@betterkeep.app and we'll assist you.
